  • Sky Player

I've just been in Game today, and was conned into purchasing the xbox 360 kit for sky player + sky sports ... I'm yet to plug it in, does anyone use it and is it worth the monthly fee?

I don't use it but have it, a friend uses it (as they have sky and if you have that you can use the sky player)

He said it was okay, but it's a little worse than SD but watchable.

Sounds like 14 day return policy needs to be activated

I've actually improved the quality! I tweaked a few settings on my xbox and it's pretty good now. Stream is pretty perfect now.

Just needs more channels for the cost, but the first 30 day's are free so I'll give it a few weeks before deciding whether to renew.

Yeah its very low on channels. If you paid for a standard Sky subscription at the same price you get far more channels.

I certainly hope they add more channels, £34.50 p/m is quite a lot even if I make good use of watching sky sports live on it.

Can you not get Sky where you are ?

Not sure if it would be cheaper/more value.

Yes, but because it's so close to the sea - as soon as we have wind or rain it becomes un-watchable and Virgin don't come down this street .. I'd have virgin installed where I live now if it was available.

Crikey I didn't realise that Sky was that susceptible to weather issues :/

Get a 70/80/90 cm disk with a low noise LNB instead of the cheapo Sky rubbish. Then no probs at all..

I only want it for Sky Sports anyway, which this service provides. If I go for the smallest package with sky + all the sky sports channels it costs more than the sky player service.

Yeah we have similar issues. High winds just destroys the signal.

A local satellite installer made the same suggestion. I haven't had it done yet though as he mentioned there could be planning permission requirements based on size of the dish and I can not be arsed with the hassle at the moment

Standard dishes are 55-60cm and no planning is required for <80 in most of the UK (Milton Keynes and a couple of other nicer places excluded

Usually heavy rain, black clouds, lightening etc.. that knocks it out. Needs to be pretty heavy. Probably happens 2-3 times a year that the weather knocks my signal out.
