  • VPS OR Dedicated Server?

    Hi there,

    Does anyone prefer VPS/Dedicated Hosting?
My sites use heavy CPU Resources which cause my host to suspend my accounts.

Should I go dedicated Server OR VPS?

Do you have any load stats?

A VPS would probably fit your needs however as connected mentioned some load stats and general resource figures would help but I appreciate you're currently on shared hosting and probably don't run a real world copy on your local machine.

If you don't have these figures perhaps you could tell us what your website is doing to cause this CPU load which might help is estimate the resource usage - you could try starting out with a medium style VPS and then monitor it's usage and decide later if you would like to increase the resources (which is easier on a VPS than a dedicated server).

Clearly you have yet to learn from your mistakes so perhaps a WHC issues holiday is in order, come back!

I suggest to use dedicated server, because it is individual server with dedicated RAMs. In VPS if your neighbours are using server intensive, yours server will be slow and sometimes unreachable at all.

That's entirely down to the VPS technlogy being used - our VDS clients can use 100% of their allocated CPU & Memory all day long without any impact to other tennants on the same hardware

In my opinion VPS is cheaper, but a dedicated server is more reliable. The details about the difference between these two types of servers are well described on the following site

Why do you continue to bother to spam your links here?
GoDaddy are abusing WHC with shill advertising

Sorry, but that was not spam. I wanted the users to see the difference between VPS and dedicated as this theme is described by other hosting clients.

You go with dedicated server. Dedicated server is best.

It actually depends on your budget - you can find powerful VPS plans with much cheaper price then a dedicated one.
                            cPanel Web Hosting from €2.99 /mo. | VPS Hosting from €7.99 /mo. | Powerful Dedicated Servers from €59.95 /mo.

First you should optimise your site to not cause unnecessary load. THen ask your host for load details to identiffy scrtipts which cause it.
Then you might get an idea if VPS will be sufficing.
