  • Help needed from GSP's please and other gamers?

    Hi all,

    i have a dedicated server which im hosting a few servers off. Its an AMD Dual Core 4400, 2Gb ram so pleanty of power Im running 2 cod 2 servers and 4 cod:uo servers on it with a mixture of player slots, about 170 in total. not all the servers are used and most are empty most of the time. All was running fine untill i changed one of the UO servers from 55 to 64man and then since then we've had some lag issues. This servers pretty popular but even when its full and the other servers are at their peak the CPU only normally peaks at around 60% usage with just under 50% memory still available. The servers dont have massive lag and it only seems to be when you go near the bases on CTF or DOM that you notice it. Wondered if anyone had any ideas? As i say it was running fine before we put the slots up by 9 :emote_dun Is it that a 64 player server is just too big? Any ideas on this would be appriciated Cheers

            Your definatly overloading the box, no doubt about it. Easy fix would be to reduce player sizes greatly or to run only one/two "large" servers at the same time, although you might still get the lagg as large servers by nature are a pain!

              Indeed, another vote for overloading your box. We used to (when we were actively into the game server market) limit at 4-5 servers per box (no where near that player count size though), but as soon as the games became more resource intensive this went down to 1/2 (we even still run a couple servers soley on their own server).

                Thanks for the advice guys. It only confused me though because it was fine for a couple of months and then just suddenly took a turn for the worst

                  could be that as cod:uo is an addon to cod it may require more resources, if i remember right it did for client
